  1. These numbers plus the downright horrible overseas numbers in most markets make me think Part 3 has a real chance of not happening here.

  2. Another week at #1 for Avatar and Zootopia should pass $400M domestic fairly soon.

The Bone Temple underperforming this much is really surprising.

Avatar Fire & Ash will remain King and Queen for 5 weekends in a row.

Unless Mercy really over-performs soon, Avatar’s going to stay at #1 for 6 weekends in a row.

  5. It’s kind of weird how some people seem almost desperate for Avatar to just completely fail. I get the box office drop has been pretty substantial but damn, some of the people on this page start foaming at the mouth at any word of bad news for the franchise.

  6. Wonders if Zootopia 2 will pass 1.8 billion? It will inevitably become highest grossing animated movie of all time, overtaking Inside Out 2..

  7. Damn this is fucking sad. They really went more mainstream and tame with Bone Temple and it didn’t even pay off.

  8. The Housemaid just in it’s lane. Hypersocial. Gasping in crowded theatres. Gleefully revenging.

    Rolling around in profit.

  9. I wanted to see Bone Temple and my local 16 screen Regal has it on one screen with three showtimes today. What the hell?

Yes, Eywa has heard our call! Now Jim, if you’re reading this, we want Avatar 4 and 5!

Bone Temple flopping feels unfortunate but it’s paying the price of how underwhelming the previous movie was.

  12. I went in so hyped for the first 28 years later movie and left somewhat disappointed. I’ll wait until this other releases on Netflix or something.

  13. Really loved Bone Temple. May be my favorite in the series, shame it’s not doing well

I had a feeling this was going to happen. I saw an advanced screening a week ago and it was only half full which normally I never see for an early screening

Saw avatar 3 last night in 3D dual laser IMAX.

I loved it. Yeah it’s the same story essentially but was I ever bored? Nope. The visuals were some of the best I’ve ever seen. My favorite types of sci-fi are like Dune and Primer, I like heady stuff and I don’t mind slower paced movies as long as they’re visually beautiful and have lots to think about.

But Cameron is absolutely a visionary and genius and this is some of the best pure escapism action entertainment you’ll ever get.

  16. I’m waiting for Disney to greenlit Avatar 4 & 5. With the way Fire and Ash ended, I want to see the sequel and the pay off in the end to see where it goes.

  17. Man, that’s awful for Bone if that holds.

Really the story of this holiday season is Housemaid. Holy shit the legs on this is insane. A true WOM type of flick.

  18. Avatar 3 is formidable. It’s just that simple. If you notice, it only usually gets compared negatively with … other Avatars.

  19. Considering how bad the post holiday drops have been, can A3 slip below 1.5B WW?

Thinking maybe somewhere around Top Gun Maverick?

I hope not, since that will be a very big under performance. Although probably still profitable.

The vocal minority not showing up is what’s causing more than half the audience to leave, trust me bro.
