In Spy Game (2001) a major plot point is centred on Brad Pitt’s character not believing the CIA’s phony ‘break up’ letter left by his girlfriend. It’s because they used his real name that she never knew.

Loved this movie, reminds me so much of John Lê Carré’s books, endless flashbacks, little lost details, plot twists. A proper spy story.

He does tell her his real name… after she tells him about her past and drives off, the next scene is him going to her apartment. The first thing he says is “my name is Tom.”

I assumed Tom came clean about who he was when he showed up at her place the last time.
At that point, Nathan probably bugged her apartment and knew everything that went on during that last rendezvous.

Very underrated movie. Highly recommend for those who like spy movies that put the plan together under your nose.
>!I love that they are getting played right under their noses at the meeting:!<

>!”Why do you think they keep dumping him?”!<

Great spy thriller. Weird seeing this post after just randomly thinking about this movie in the shower. Never know what’s going to come to the top of the heap when having shower thoughts.
