Cause how did agent J get back when he only saw how to get into the past with the middle button on the side and the slider around the middle but not the future so which button would it be? And even if we figured it out then what would the third button be for? Travelling between places and earths with coordinates? I really want ansqers and I cant find anything about this on the internet so please someone help.

I imagine based on the design, that it works like a stopwatch. Maybe you can straight up pause time with one button and loop with another. If that was the case, then you’d say “why didn’t anyone use those functions instead”, and I’d respond that they either didn’t read the instructions or the movie wasn’t written very well.
