In the iconic opening scene of the Godfather (1972) Don Corleone was petting a stray cat who wandered on set. It was unscripted and became one of the most memorable scenes in cinematic history.

What, no way this is true. I feel like I would have heard this a million times before if it was.
The addition of the cat made that scene even better, endorsing Don Corleone as a man of unexpected contrasts.
Another unscripted (I think, anyway) cat scene I like is in ‘The Good, The Bad & The Ugly’ – Clint plays with a kitten briefly at one point.
