Essentially looks like PTA doing GTA which is funny because GTA 6 might end up releasing the same month or like a month after this.
Think this can easily make 200M+ September is dead movie wise

Groovy!
Where do we here in r/BoxOffice see this one landing in terms of financial performances?
Here’s a guide to the past nine movies from the director and lead actor to help.

Looks interesting and weird, and it’s always great to see Leo DiCaprio turning in a wild performance.
Though if Sinners doesn’t perform with a more commercial hook and mainstream director, doubt this will fare well theatrically on a 140m budget. At least WB gave PTA and Coogler these budgets at all.

Looks great. Hope people come out to support it.

Unsurprisingly, it will easily be PTA’s biggest film. Obviously, not a high bar.
Leo got *Killers of the Flower Moon* to $158 million, and that’s without promoting it and with a 206-minute runtime. So this should clear $150 million, but it’s gonna need far more to recoup the $140 million investment.
But as a big PTA fan, I’m hyped.

If there is one movie I want to succeed at the box office then it is this…. I really hope people go watch this movie! and don’t underestimate leo walkups.

I know the default is to assume the worst for original stuff right now (and understandably so), but I’m not gonna immediately declare this a flop; moving from August to late September was a VERY smart choice.
Most of September is pretty dry right now (Big Beautiful Journey, Downton Abbey, Strangers 2) and compared to something like KotFM, a 2 1/2 hour comedic thriller will be a much easier sell than a 3 1/2 hour heavy drama.
If this does well, I suspect Leo’s character in this is going to be a very popular cheap Halloween costume this year lol.

This looks awesome, hopefully it can finally give PTA a box office hit.

Zaslav took the 140 million dollars he got from junking *Coyote, Scoob* and *Batgirl*, then shoved it into the back pocket of Paul Thomas Anderson’s jeans and told him not to come back until he’d adapted an obscure work of literary fiction

WB spent a lot of money on this film. Let’s see if it breaks out.
Leo is too old to be a new father or for a romance subplot.

Man Once Upon A Time In Hollywood numbers for this would be so incredibly nice.

Really wish people would stop treating that 140 number like it’s gospel.

Anyone with brain cells left needs to see this film and embrace art. This will be a line in the sand. If this movie can even make 350 mil, it will be a huge achievement.

This movie would not get made in 2026
