I also heard Robotnick say Vaya Con Dios to Shadow. Nod to Point Break?

The people involved in making these movies are absolutely on top of references, nods, paying homage, etc. Just another reason why I enjoy them

Also, in Sonic 1, they’re watching Speed and Sonic yells I love Keanu!

Holy shit, til Keanu Reeves played shadow

That creepy string motif thing from the matrix soundtrack also plays when shadow is first introduced in tokyo.

I knew that instantly my favorite Easter egg first show when he’s fighting Agent Smith when he becomes “The One”

This is also just on theme for how shadow fights in the series lol

Surely this qualifies as a shitty movie detail

I loved how the entirety of the Tokyo section of the movie was crammed full of homages and references. Everything from the classic Akira slide to Shadow with a gun that he doesn’t need.

Still kinda annoyed that throughout the whole movie, Sonic doesn’t acknowledge shadow sounding like Keanu, since Speed exists in the series

way back in the day wasn’t there a bunch of Shadow/Matrix crossover videos on youtube? I seem to remember that scene where Neo fights a horde of Agent Smith’s around a flagpole being done except it was Shadow.. or maybe Mario or Sonic? idr

all this talk is making me start to think all the sonic love i keep seeing isn’t actually ironic. Is the new sonic franchise actually good?

I got the impression that the fights were more Dragonball Z inspired.

Does a reference to the most referenced movie of all time, still count as a detail?

I think shadow actually does that in the games too. Which is now a fun double reference!
