The movie is about two awkward teenagers (Owen and Maddy) who bond over their shared love of an obscure fantasy tv show about two magical young girls (Tara and Isabel) fighting monsters of the week. Their growing friendship was represented by an artistic montage showing the messages they leave each other when talking about the show and the fan arts they drew. Later it was revealed that Owen and Maddy were actually Isabel and Tara trapped in another dimension by the show’s main villain, a twist the audience may have guessed if they paused at just the right moment during the montage.
