      I LOVED this movie growing up, I never realized it was a Gore Verbinski film though! Totally makes sense knowing his work now.

      I rememeber watching this as a kid with my family in the theatre over Christmas break. Fun movie.

      This was my favourite movie growing up. The cinematography of Gore Verbinski movies are something else. You can watch his movies for that alone.

      The scene where Ernie and Lars shoot the bug bomb with a shot gun and blow a 15 metre hole in the floor below them is classic.

      Of Unknown Origin has a similar premise, but it’s more leaning into psychological horror.

      I thought this was going to turn into some Final Destination style horrific death where his body is ripped through mouse-sized holes in the floor.

      The visual style is hysterical. Verbinski has a masters command of editing and visual tempo. Perfect combination of close-up, zoom, pans and static shots.

      Oh yeah, the fun movie where a guy eats a cockroach. Definitely didn’t like watching that as a kid.

      I’ve loved this movie since I was a kid. Now I watch it with my kids. Chris Walken’s sequence is one of my favorites, it’s positively unhinged.
