She should buy his catalog containing Beatles songs, then it’s over.

She doesn’t have the same cultural penetration as the beatles. Her sales figures are propped up by the rabidity of her fanbase, not her widepsread appeal. And most of her songs are just plain musically uninteresting, as satisfying as they may be to their core demo, so she will not have anything like the same enduring legacy. All in all, a trivial comparison, but one that highlights Paul’s graciousness.

It’s always good when the true goats try and pass the torch like this. It’s usually laughably wrong, but it’s always good. I think the Beatles were impactful in a way that the culture today with fractured genres etc just would never support. The business was different then, entire genres of music died when the Beatles hit the US and the next 10 years was bands trying to emulate them.
Swift may have been that massive in that time, but not in this one.

She is as big as them commercially, but will never be as influential. The Beatles revolutionized music. Taylor just sings pop songs.

The two remaining Beatles alive have said the same about Taylor, watch people that wasn’t borb at that time saying that they are wrong

And she’s had a longer run at the top.

Taylor Swift can’t, won’t, and hasn’t changed the industry forever.
Edit: not *nearly* to the level the Beatles did.

As a product yeah, in legacy and artistic achievement, f no.

but bigger than Jesus or not is the question

I mean it’s a tough 1 to 1 comparison but Taylor definitely has done bigger concerts than the Beatles.
Culturally I don’t think she’s going to have the same sticking power, but no one knows the future.

Yeah, she’s as big as all of them except Ringo. He’s 5’6″.

As always, there’s an element of rage baiting and nuance that is lost on a lot of people.
We’re comparing different times entirely. The world of music has changed almost inconceivably since The Beatles. While it’s great that Paul McCartney is happy to pass the torch, so to speak, they’re incomparable. Taylor Swift might have “more” fans, but there are more people with a wider ability to consume music. The Beatles might have been more influential, but again, different times at a period where one is still at their peak.

Kinda crazy that one of the actual Beatles says this and you guys want to disagree with him

At the height of Beatlemania, the Fab Four seemed untouchable with a string of hits that left them “more popular than Jesus”.
Now, Sir Paul McCartney has finally named an artist he would rank alongside his former band – pop queen Taylor Swift.
In a recent interview, the music veteran expressed his admiration for the American pop singer, describing her as “clever” and a “very good” performer.
