I did some SPFX work on Ladder 49 and it was definitely real fire. We were lucky no one really got hurt, Joaquin Phoenix caught fire when some pyro effects spread to his jacket.
I can think of a few actors I’d cast in a movie where they are put in a real fire, but I think if I wrote the names I’d be banned.
I can also think of a few choice cameos. One in particular.
