Pirates Of the Caribbean 1-3 to me is one of the best Movie Trilogies ever made, up there with LOTR
This looks like it came out last year 💀
The first POTC movie is such a perfect swashbuckling action-adventure film, and I think 2 and 3 kind of over-complicated things and got away from that in a lot of ways, but Davy Jones was an awesome villain and all of the scenes on his ship are so insanely cool that I think they make the movies worthwhile.
I know it’s not original to say the CGI in these movies holds up but man you compare the effects in these movies to the effects in recent Marvel movies and it’s like night and day.
Take note Disney, this is what a “fun” movie actually looks like, not whatever the hell the Mandalorian and Grogu is.
One of the greatest CGI characters ever created. It’s just stunning to look at.
What I appreciate even more than the visual effects and performances is the fact that it’s an effectively lit night scene and you can actually see what’s happening
I was always surprised they took the squid route, as historically Davy Jones was seen mostly as Monkee.
One of my favorite characters in a movie. I loved the way he looked and the music that went along with him was amazing
Bill Nighy and the entire crew of artists who made Davy Jones come alive … you just can’t see that anymore. He blows out his match with his octopus breathing tube! That was sick at the time and still holds up as insanely creative.
