> Movie follows the host of an ‘all-things-creepy’ podcast who moves into her dying mother’s house to become her primary caregiver. When her podcast is sent 10 strange audio recordings of a young pregnant couple experiencing paranormal noises, she realizes the woman’s story mirrors her own as each new recording scratches at her sanity, drawing her into a fate she cannot escape.
I know milage may vary for a movie like this with some folks – but if things like Paranormal Activity scared the shit out of you, this will be your jam. I don’t get scared much, but the unseen-type spooks get me, and this one paired with the gnarly sound design left me shook.
If you want the 4DX experience, watch this on a laptop with headphones and have a friend flick the lights on and off during key moments.
That A24 deal is the main reason I keep HBO Max
This movie was really disappointing, not scary in the slightest. The acting was bad, the premise was bad, the execution was bad. I was super surprised to see this get praise anywhere. Might be more interesting to watch with some high quality headphones because of the interesting use of audio, but even then, the movie itself is bad.
