Waiting with a large cup for all the conservative tears for casting of Lupita Nyongo ☕️

    2. The art direction looks so bland and underwhelming to me, but I guess that’s just personal taste. Lupita is gorgeous though, she looks like a painting.

    3. Casting is meh, it feels weird seeing these faces in what’s meant to be Ancient Greece. Tbh Charlize and lupita’s the only ones I feel fits, but Matt Damon Anne Hathaway Zendaya Tom holland… idk how to explain it something just feels off.

And omg the trailer. The trailer for this was so underwhelming. ‘My dad’s coming home!’ What the fuck is this middle school level writing 😭😭😭 the amount of times I heard dad. DAD. IN THE ODYSSEY LMAO. I’m so shocked. And the American accents??? Yes I know British accents aren’t accurate for the time period but that’s at least less jarring than American.

Needless to say Charlize and Damon just got it on and she is trying to convince him to just stay on the island and be her lover for the rest of time.

Well that’s not the most flattering pic of zendaya, who is gorgeous….so why this

    6. It was one thing to know the cast as it was being announced, etc., but seeing the trailer and stills from this movie just feels like too many capital a Actors involved. I’m just seeing them as people and not remotely as characters.

Maybe it’ll be different actually watching the movie.

I’m not buying Zendaya as Athena. Perhaps because she is in disguise but Athena needs to look more war like even in disguise.

Lupita is honestly sooo beautiful and I fully believe her as Helen, I just have questions about why Nolan decided to make her and Clytemnestra identical.

Nothing stands out more than how absolutely stunning Lupita is as Helen of Troy.

These really look like minimalist theater costumes, and I just…after playing games Hades, God of War, et al, that reimagine the gods so vividly, I really crave some extravagance. Maybe we’re just not seeing it? I don’t know. Then again, I’ve always been tepid on Nolan’s work (I’ll be brave and say I think *Oppenheimer* was kind of overrated) and this feels like it’s just reinforcing that recalcitrant feeling I get from his movies.

I think while obviously all the love these actors I’m sure they’re gonna kill it but I just am starting to think these kinds of historical period pieces work better when I don’t know who the actors and actresses are. Like that’s Zendaya and when I watch this movie that’s what I’m gonna think when I see Athena. When I see Penelope I know in my mind I’m gonna immediately go “Hell yeah Anne Hathaway”. Not that it’s bad that they’re in it but I know I can’t stop my brain

I’m distracted by how jacked Anne Hathaway’s forearms are. Like it looks like photoshop. I just did the pose in front of a mirror and my forearms do NOT look like that. Am I going insane?
