No matter how low the MAGA shitbags go, Colbert keeps hitting new heights

I will always hold both of these men in special esteem for what they each did for my little town of Boone NC. At the start of the pandemic, Colbert ran a segment promoting our local bookshop. He recruited Tom Hanks and Sam Elliott for the segment and it kept the bookshop alive for a lot longer than it would have been otherwise.
When Helene hit, Chef Andrés personally went to Asheville to help with the WCK relief efforts. They set up clean water cisterns in my town, one I walked by every day. I’ll never forget the feeling of seeing the WCK logo daily and thinking of the WCK relief workers in Gaza, especially those that were murdered by the IOF, and feeling a deep sense of grief and connection.
Colbert also talked about Helene repeatedly on his show and listed the names of WNC towns that few people outside our region had ever heard of before.
They both seem like genuine, good souls and I thank them.

I’m no longer religious but I truly see Jesus in Jose Andres. He wants no glory for his work, just wants to make sure all humans have the dignity of a warm meal in front of them when they’re hungry. When Jose is no longer on this earth his legacy will be far greater and honorable than any of the other bozos that think they’re making their mark on history these days.

Love WCK they do great things. I remember they were on the ground in Gaza fairly quickly (and lost a few members as well). One of the good ones

One time I met Jose at his restaurant (Mini Bar best meal I ever had) and he was so nice and sat with each table for a bit chatting about our meal and our families etc.
