Rich, retired, and well-rested before starting? Those kids won the lottery.

Good for her! Seemingly the children are healthy so if she’s happy that’s all that matters

I genuinely believe women should start having kids later in life. Good for her.

was the child born via surrogate?

I support them but it must be hard to be that child and know your mum will be 70 before you’re even 18. It’s not just about staying alive, it hurts to see your parents age and change and they’re going to have to go through that at a very young age.

I’m being nosy here but did she carry the child? or did they use a surrogate or adopt or something?

It takes more than money to raise a kid. She’ll be 71 and Benji 65 when this kid wraps up high school. Having kids at that age because you’re bored is a joke, idc.

Hot take: I know there has been a lot of discourse about her waiting to have kids and if it’s a selfish decision that she won’t realistically be in their lives for a long time (comparatively speaking). But nothing is guaranteed in life. A parent can sadly pass away unexpectedly at a young age. I feel like if you make the decision to have kids this late in life, make sure you have/are going to set those kids up financially in case you aren’t there for them in this world for a long time. Money can’t replace a parent, but it can certainly lessen the blown of the loss if you have to lose a parent when you are youngish.

The thought of dealing with a toddler at 53 makes my lower back ache.

I feel like 50s is a little too late, because you’re older (physically and such), possible complications, and they won’t have much time with you compared to if you had a child at 35. Although she has money and I’m sure they’ll have a good life despite the age.

I’m exhausted just thinking about it, I’m a few years older than her and I wish her well. I couldn’t do it. May she get her 107 years!

I grew up with an older mom. Overall, I think it was good even though I’m struggling now being young and having to deal with elderly parents. But growing up, my mom was a lot more relaxed in certain areas than other parents around me and offered helpful advice about life and career stuff.

“Work hard for it” = Pay a poorer woman to carry her eggs for her. Paid surrogacy is not ethical.

As someone who had a baby at 39, I sort of get what she’s saying. But I think 53 is too old.
You don’t always appreciate things when you’re younger in the same way you do when you’ve had the time to experience life a little first and settle in.

She didn’t “have children” she rented a womb which is so selfish at the age of 53 when you’ve already got kids

I kind of hate the idea that a woman in her 20 or 30s also can not actively “work for” their children and make an active choice to have them. I know multiple women that struggled with infertility and went through years of struggles to have their children with a lot less resources than they have.
