I’ve got my ticket booked for October and I’m so excited! Gaten is a really talented performer and I think he’ll do a great job as Mark. I saw a couple of people complaining that he’s too young but Anthony Rapp was only 23 when he first played Mark, and I believe the casting range for the character is 20-30. I think the movie makes people forget how young the characters actually are.

I’m gonna need Joe Keery to go see this and be like this in the audience cheering on Gaten!

Also, I guess I have to put that Deuxmoi rumor about Joe being in a Broadway play with JLD back on the table. I had written it off when Gaten cancelled for a Stranger Things convention due to a “stage opportunity in the fall” so I assumed he was the one going to Broadway but guess not.

If Gaten is gonna be anyone in Rent, Mark makes by FAR the most sense. A smart, nerdy, guy who rides or dies for his friends? That’s Gaten.

The characters are early 20s, only Collins and maybe Benny can play as like 30.

Gaten is gonna do just fine!

Brilliant, he’s an absolute talent on the screen or on the stage

    5. He was so great in Sweeney Todd, especially in such a difficult show where he was opposite two powerhouse vocalists like Josh Groban and Annaleigh Ashford. He definitely held his own. I’ve been hoping he’d do more theater again that would showcase him more, and this role is perfect for that. Fingers crossed it transfers to Broadway.
