I remember reading a quote from an interview with Susan once (the “burn it all down” one where she was saying a Trump presidency was going to be better than a Clinton one because Trump could begat change, and came away feeling like her views were understandable, but she seemed to be an accelerationist, which I will never agree with. I find those people like the political equivalent of those bible thumping extremists hoping for the end of the world. So, in essence, I understand where Yvette is coming from with this opinion. I remember being like, yeah, we want change, but in the mean time until we get to that change, so many lives would be affected, and Susan just didn’t seem to care about that aspect of burning it all down.
I don’t think she’s a bad person, I just think she was coming from a highly privileged point-of-view on that specific opinion.
Susan Sarandon is not responsible for Donald Trump getting elected in 2016. The onus was on the Clinton/Kaine campaign and the Democratic Party to ensure a victory and they, ^unfortunately ^for ^us , failed.

The DNC forcing her on the American public because it was “her time” was dumb and cost us everything. Yes Clinton won the popular vote but unfortunately we have to go by the electoral college and she was at a disadvantage. Hillary should not have run and the DNC should have chosen someone else. The DNC made that mistake again by picking and even more unpopular candidate, one who couldn’t even get the most votes.
I agree with Susan Sarandon on must things but Yvette is right here. For the last 10 years I haven’t been able to see her without cringing. She was one of the loudest “Hillary and Trump are two sides of the same coin” voices and that nonsense is a large part of where we are today.

What I’m learning in this thread is that a) Susan Sarandon seems to be directly responsible for people voting Trump because she told them not to vote Hilary, b) that this lone voice of hers was loud enough that the multiple celebrity endorsements that Hilary *did* receive didn’t actually mean anything and c) that Hilary herself bears no responsibility for trying to manufacture an easy win against Trump to begin with.
