This movie is one of five collaborations between Clint, and director Donald Siegel.

Before this movie, they did Coogan’s Bluff. After this movie, they did The Beguiled, Dirty Harry, and Escape from Alcatraz (which was several years later after Dirty Harry).

Siegel’s also a heck of a director. He did the original Invasion of the Body Snatchers movie in ’56 (to be followed by the ’78 version a while later under someone else), and directed The Shootist (John Wayne’s final movie).

Riot in Cell Block 11 in ’54 was also an important movie when it came out. To put it simply, it was among one of the earliest movies to showcase just how bad the prison system was at *that* time. Even Quentin Tarantino thinks it’s among the best prison movies ever made.

Love this scene. Makes me feel like I’m Clint Eastwood, but ugly and poor
