    1. I hate it so much, but i understand that Courthouse Becky might have influenced the jury.

It’s a shame the victims’ family have to ho through this again.

Wow this is wild! He is guilty, guilty, guilty, but it was clearly not a fair trial because of the clerk’s behavior, including making comments to the jury and showing [sealed exhibits](https://www.courttv.com/news/becky-hill-pleads-guilty-to-showing-sealed-exhibits-in-alex-murdaughs-trial/) to reporters. I’m surprised the judges also said evidence of his financial crimes should have been limited since that seems to be most of the motive, from the NYT article:

      >”While the State Supreme Court focused on Ms. Hill’s behavior in its ruling, the justices also wrote that Judge Newman “should have limited” the evidence that jurors heard about Mr. Murdaugh’s financial crimes”

But to me, this seems like the justice system working as it should, he did not get a fair trial. He will sit in jail for his other crimes until he has a new trial, and I presume he will be convicted again because he SO obviously did it.

As shitty as this sounds, I’m glad to see the Justice system doing the right thing in terms of the system itself.

I’ve seen a lot of people over the years ask criminal defenders how they can defend horrible people and the answer is usually something along the lines of making sure the defendant is defended properly so they won’t get free (like this) on a technicality.

We want the system to check itself. I hate that the victims families have to go through this but at the end of the day I’m pretty sure they too want to make sure this man is behind bars forever in a just way so he cannot get out.

      Deep breath and remain hopeful.

Are they letting him out? Or does he stay in jail for another trial

And this sort of plot twist is exactly why you prosecute someone for ALL their crimes. His financial crimes will keep him locked up even if a jury does not re-convict for the slayings.

This should scare everyone that Appalachia is literally turning feral.

You have a lawyer fully convicted by his peers as the perpetrator of what should have been one first degree murder and one second degree murder but either way was proven to have shot his son and wife with a shotgun by the same courts that sealed his conviction during his appeals, has turned around and approved a retrial.

We are literally no longer a democracy when a singular person’s will (AKA: a king) can deny rights or freedoms to a sovereign governing piece of land.

Let that sink in people…democracy is no longer America’s governing system.
