Some white comedians are TOO comfortable making racist jokes at the expense of BIPOC and I’m glad it’s getting called out. A lot of the jokes at the roast were tasteless, gross and unnecessary.

I didn’t watch it because I don’t think any of those people are entertaining much less funny, I didn’t realize it was that overtly hateful.

I’m so sorry this is happening, just disgusting.

The association between being short and a bonsai tree is funny AF, but I’m sure there’s a joke to made that isn’t fucking *lynching*

Something like: KH being rich to afford landscaping on a YUGE house and land, and wanting a tire swing or a bench put under a tree, and the only viable size is a bonsai

These jokes are absolutely unacceptable and disgusting. They’re not even funny either. I feel like those who aren’t pulling disgusted/cringe faces are only laughing out of awkwardness/politeness

Wow those aren’t even thinly veiled shots, just straight up distasteful and immature

    6. It really annoys me when white comedians act like they don’t understand the line. Joking about common, harmless stererotypes that bring POC in on the joke? Sure. Joking about violence against POC or historical mistreatment? No. It’s not a difficult thing to understand.

Additionally – the jokes go down a lot easier when you’re not an actual fascism supporter.

There’s an old adage in comedy — if you’re gonna make a controversial joke, it has to be worth it. Most of these were lazy insults that had no punchline. These dudes are idiots and yes I do think if they couldn’t discern that what they were saying hinged on the color of the person’s skin and not on any other qualities or personality traits, or if the punchline doesn’t somehow elevate the joke from racism, they remain racist jokes.

So many people really were just hiding their racism, misogyny, etc. until the little slime balls felt safe to be openly a POS. I can’t say I’ve been surprised by anyone gleefully taking advantage of the “free pass” they think they now have, but the sheer number is depressing. So many were just faking being decent people because it was what was “cool” at the time.

Well, the pendulum will eventually swing back and I hope they aren’t allowed to just go back to pretending to be “woke”.

Any need to include lynch as your punchline shows your lack of knowledge of American education and how it impacts the BIPOC community and immigrants as well. It was used to keep immigrants in line as well in the South after the Civil War. Our government has truly destroyed our education systems to their advantage. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Lynching of a black man, can never be a joke. Tasteless, and not a roast. Just an excuse to say racist stuff. I’m glad this is getting called out for what it is. They could’ve told ‘tons’ of jokes about the man being short, but this is what they chose to deliver? 🤔

Shane gillis has only had one funny joke ever and it was the grilled cheese one.
