    1. This one is one of the few *very notorious* examples of director’s cuts being significantly better than the original, next to probably only Blade Runner. In fact I can’t even think of a third one, it’s really primarly those two, and I feel like this opinion has been part of pop culture for decades.

      Even the extended editions of LotR are not everyone’s favorite versions, other than Saruman’s last scene RotK the theatrical cuts have done a great job at trimming out the fat. Other than that, Justice League I guess? Goes from bad to just fine, but it IS a significant improvement I suppose.

      I agree the director’s cut of Kingdom of Heaven is better, but I still think buoyed the theatrical release. 

      Though also, this is one of the few movies that is legitimately improved with the director’s cut. Most other director’s cuts are either just adding superfluous footage or outright downgrades. I think one of the worst director’s cuts I’ve seen was *The Town* where the added scenes just rehash plot points covered earlier in the movie.
