‘All The President’s Men’ Turns 50 Years Old: Half a century ago, we were riveted by that thriller focused on 2 relentless newsmen, played by Robert Redford and Dustin Hoffman, digging into seedy mysteries of the Watergate scandal -& many name filmmakers believe we’re ripe for a contemporary version

contemporary version wont work cuz the pedo is still in office

    2. > Would a Watergate-like thriller set in the Donald Trump era deliver equal emotional clout?

      I wonder if it would.

Since so much insane shit just happens out in public now, would people want to watch a movie that just reminds them of real life news reports?

We know real corruption is happening behind-the-scenes right now, but would general audiences find it interesting enough to overcome that reminder?

    3. As much as I love this movie, I think it’s given people the impression that Woodward, Bernstein, and Deep Throat were more important to Watergate than they really were. Mostly they just kept the story alive when other outlets (and the White House) were moving on. That did matter – but it’s things like James McCord’s memo to a judge and John Dean’s Senate testimony that resulted in prison terms and Nixon’s resignation.

Nostalgic about corrupt leaders being held to account for their malfeasance.
