The practical effects and the sheer tension in this scene are still unmatched. Ridley Scott really knew how to build dread without saying a word.

Ridley Scott to me is the greatest director because well he’s got range. He’ll do sci-fi like this then pivot to GI Jane, and Thelma Louise. The go back to historical epics like the last duel and gladiator. Then do black hawk down. Then go to all the money in the world. All well shot. Like I think someone like Dennis Villanueve can do dune and blade runner but can’t really pull of Thelma and Louise. Ridley can which is what elevates him from other directors

The facehugger is one primo bit of practical SFX

Ripley was the only one smart who knew the right procedure in theses situations (keep them quarantined). All the other people were dumb. The boss especially, so irresponsible.

    5. The intro to this movie is absolute perfection.. the world building is unlike anything else.

    6. My Dad took me to see this movie when I was 8 yrs. old. I still consider it child abuse.

I love Lambert’s slap. Wonder why it wasn’t in the theatrical version.

I forgot to add this is from the Director’s Cut so there are some differences you may notice.

    9. What’s great about this film is everyone is scared and confused about what’s going on – they feel like real people reacting to WTF situations. You can really relate to them which makes it all the more terrifying.
