An underrated movie that captures how one reckless moment can spiral into something far bigger than anyone expected. Why do you think films like this never got the attention they deserved?

Ever since I was a kid, I wanted to throw hot dog carts down a set of stairs.*

  3. Man, I miss when movies looked like this all the time. What a gorgeous colour grade.

“Oh, you ordered the meatloaf. The briskets really good here, only you’ll never know it. You fucked up.”

The little kid in this movie and scene … He had the sickest bball handles in the neighborhood growing up.

Is this the one where they all get sent to some juvenile corrections places and get raped by the guards and the grow up to kill him or something?

Whatever you do, do not read the book if you dont want to be scarred for life

  8. Peak 90s melancholy. I remember watching this and listening to the Counting Crows Recovering the Satellites on the way home. I can tie those together, both released that same week.

  9. Why would he chase a kid so far for one hot dog and leave the entire cart unattended.

  10. Barry Levinson wrote the screenplay for the film. The original book was written by Lorenzo Carcaterra.

I only ever saw this movie because we went to go see Mel Gibson in Ransom (it was a different time) but the problem was it was rated R and we couldn’t get in so we all piled into sleepers instead. It was then we learned that the classification system for rating movies doesn’t make any sense.

  12. Rough break for, what I assume, was that deaf guy who couldn’t hear the absolute ear splitting cacophony of a hot dog card crashing down the stairs and walked right into it.

Great movie though. Don’t take my CinemaSins style nitpick too seriously.

That guy was really into that newspaper to not hear the loudest banging of all time happening around the corner

I first read this book at 12, I wasn’t prepared to read about the Baton scene let alone them show it.

I was first introduced to this movie long before I should’ve been. I’m in my 30’s now and it’s still a hard watch 😔
