    1. Its fascinating how the two hugely expensive spinoffs of two of the major fantasy franchises (Rings of Power and House of the Dragon) barely seem to have an impact on the larger pop culture despite their parent series being behemoths.

Sorry, won’t be tuning in. Will have a more important bowel movement to worry about.

    3. I bailed mid season 2.

Hollywood execs do not respect the source material. They get the rights and garbage puke their shitty storylines out onto it.

    4. Based on how streaming shows often go, gonna wait for this to be all done before I give it my time. I have zero faith it will get the full 5 seasons and my free time is too precious for unresolved cliffhangers.

I tried so hard to like this show. It’s just kinda lame and makes me sad. There’s no heart to it. It’s like they’re just filling in the gaps and gripes.

This show makes me sad, which is honestly a lot worse than just flat out hating it.

Building your own space program is one thing, but the biggest indicator of late stage capitalism is that Jeff Bezos and Amazon continue to burn hundreds of millions of dollars on a show that the general public has responded to with what can at best be described as “steadfast indifference”

    8. I wish they had saved Wheel of Time instead. It really found its groove in its final 2 seasons.

    9. If a wonderfully shot, beautifully production designed, legally acted, and words are said level of writing can’t pay back a billion dollar budget, what can?

I made it through the first two seasons but I’ll probably skip this. There were some good points – Sauron is well done, for one – but overall it has weak writing and horrible pacing.

I was too often bored and struggling to remember what was supposed to be happening. Too many of the characters are either unlikeable or taking stupid pills to make the plot move forwards.

    11. There was a season 2?

I still haven’t gotten more then 30 seconds into the promo trailer for season 1.

I don’t hate the show but it does seem like a stupid waste of money on something that is just okay and people forget about until the next season.

Like imagine the number of homeless shelters or animal shelters you could build for a billion dollars

    13. I enjoy this series. Season 1 was mondo-slow but I liked the setup and the visuals are incredible. Season 2 was a lot of exciting and fun. Looking forward to season 3.

The Recap Guy’s breakdown if the first 2 seasons was infinitely more entertaining than the show itself. I’m only excited for his eventual recap.

Second season sucked. The first one wasnt great but showed some promise at least. They did a good job with the orcs at least.

    16. How many more seasons were greenlit again? 4? I honestly forget. They definitely jumped the shark when it came to how much people would actually like it.

The second season was much improved over the first. I didn’t have anything better to watch so the wife and I made it through season 1 by some miracle. I haven’t read Tolkien in so long I remember only bits of the lore it’s based on, so I’m not upset at any changes. I’ll watch season 3, but probably not on release.

    18. Great. The Celebrimbor/Annatar stuff in season 2 was amazing and I really enjoyed the fall of Eregion.

I like this show, really, I do.

Season 2 was a vast improvement so I’m excited.

Will they finally remember Galadrial is married?

Honestly I don’t know why this Galadrial isn’t Celebrian from the jump.  The characters would probably flow better if that were the case.

      Was season 2 worth watching?

My partner and I watched the first, it was a slog and watching orcs being humanized really killed us both as we love Lord of the Rings instead of just plain evil guys.

I get there’s a backstory but I preferred Tolkien’s worldview, that some are just evil and everything was this huge exposition about how evil isn’t just evil.
