I think that was the role she was initially hated for back in the day.

I love the first two movies. The scene from the second one with the orphans when they walk down the street to Breakaway never fails to make me a bit emotional.
Quite frankly, if they somehow get Julie Andrews and Hector Elizondo to sign back on, I’d probably see it opening night.
That said, what would they even make the movie about? Julie Andrews was 70 when she was “passing the torch” to Hathaway’s character, and she’s only 45, so it can’t really be that.

Haven’t seen them but wasn’t she Queen at the end of the last one?

Consider this:
The second movie was over 20+ years ago (22 as of this year).
In that time, Mia could have not only married, but also had a kid who is old enough to drink. Imagine the dramatic and comedy potential there to see an older Mia having to deal with a son (or daughter) who is also a legal adult and as likely to step into the role of running things after she eventually retires.

I think the best option would be for her to have a son that misbehaves like the high school guy from the first movie so she needs to help him become more nice
