Lol, I read this as a single movie title at first: ‘Paddington 4: Escape from New York’. I’d rather watch that than either of these.

If they’re not bringing back Sally Hawkins, they can keep that shit. Her lack of presence in the 3rd film was so overwhelmingly felt.

I hope they put more care into Paddington 4. The first two are some of the best movies I’ve ever seen, but the third was a noticeable step down. It was still fun but the first two are masterpieces, and if the fourth is worse than the third it’d really suck.

I had a dream that Paddington had an American brother, so if an American brother is included, I’m gonna lose my shit

  5. If the “cgi” is anything more than UV tape on a scale model in a blacklist room, I’m not watching it.

  6. I mean, we could use some Snake Plisken badassery. Hopefully this will be a decent reboot with a good cast and not some streaming slop.

  7. Paddington saves the President? Yippee, I’d watch him fighting off crims in a massive city prison

Escape from New York isn’t the only 1981 movie they plan on making a “reimagining” of. According to the article, they’re also doing it with The Howling.

  9. Note: these are two different films, not one movie as a cursory reading of the headline suggests.

Paddington 4 has a good chance of being good, the previous Paddington movies were much better than they had any right to be.

I don’t see the need for a new Escspe from New York movie. The original one was good by itself and a remake will have a hard time being an improvement. Also the cultural context is do different today that the idea of a post apocalyptic New York being a lawless place and the hero naive enough to accept a deal to rescue the president from it, simply wouldn’t fly.

  10. Yay on Paddington 4! So happy to see these keep coming.

As for that other thing… Jesus Christ, *enough.* This one is especially dumb because the *Kind Hearts and Coronets* redo, *How to Make a Killing* was a transatlantic financial disaster. Leave it be.

  11. I misread the title as “Paddington 4: Escape From New York”, saw the Kurt Russell picture and clicked immediately!

    Now I am sorely disappointed.

Read the title as a crossover and realized it’s something I’d absolutely pay to see, whilst not caring about them separately
