Percussion nerd fact: Never just grab the beater and strike a cold static gong especially dead center it will break. Gongs need to be properly warmed up before a set and repeatedly tended to throughout the set to keep them vibrating just a little bit especially if you want to do a big dramatic strike.
Also they should put the beater where Sabrina can reach it.
