I went in watching a few episodes casually and I really didnt understand why people hated it so much. My biggest grievance wasn’t even specific to the show but just how bad Marvel has treated Hulk in the MCU era other than the very first Avengers movie.

    2. Probably because people gave up on the shows before they really started pumping them out.

It was such a fun show and it sucks how much rage-baiting overrode this show’s success at the time.

The only reason Marvel hasn’t renewed the show is that the budget became so massive that it was irresponsible.

Hopefully, we see her soon, Brad Winderbaum has his finger on the pulse when it comes to these shows now that he’s fully in charge.

    4. I love comedies and I grew up watching fun lawyer shows like Ally McBeal and Drop Dead Diva, so She-Hulk just filled in that slot nicely over the past decade.

I go through the season once a month to get my chuckles in. Happy to have contributed to the statistics.

One of my favorite MCU shows. Glad the incels were proven wrong. Vindication!!!!!

The only thing this show did bad was not lean into the sitcom tropes *enough*

Jazzy friend, loveable doors coworker, deadpan boss… man, all the pieces are there

Well, I watched it. Kept hoping it would get better. I wanted to constantly script doctor it (always a bad sign if you’re sitting there in real-time wanting to alter a few details to get the script better). I felt it was passable, but lots of missed opportunities.

    8. I mean, yeah. It was unique, quirky, and fun. When it came out, a lot of people were giving it praise, but a loud group of dan boys were loud about degrading it, so it got a weird perception no one liked it.

They were loud and brigaded it for ratings, but if you actually watched it, it was definitely one of the more interesting of the shows

    9. Show was fun, wasn’t overjoyed with the finale but it was miles better than Ms Marvel’s finale.

    10. I didn’t watch it because I have no interest in superheros, but I’m not surprised a show starring Tatiana Maslany did well. She’s an incredible actress imo.

I watched it a few months back. I didn’t even know it caught hate originally.

Now is my time to confess that for years I thought she was played by Taraji P. Henson and not Tatiana Maslany, and I thought the chuds hated She-Hulk because she was not just a woman, but (gasp) a Black woman. Never mind that they look nothing alike and Tatiana is clearly not Black, my brain just saw the green skin and the vaguely similar first names and decided they were the same person.

    13. I just don’t believe him. Show me the numbers comparing the shows…i do not believe for one second she-hulk beat daredevil, wandavision, loki, or even agatha.

Edit: and some quick research reveals that loki destroyed it…falcon and winter soldier destroyed it…wandavision destroyed it…hawkeye was above it…agatha was above it…and daredevil is above it.

So out of 13 shows it is confirmed not in the top 6. And that doesn’t mean it was 7th. Wonderman could’ve beat it…Ms marvel could have.

“So there was a mismatch between fan response and audience response.”

who’s got two thumbs and isn’t surprised? THIS GUY.

It had some cheesy moments but in a show that breaks the 4th wall everything is allowed, I enjoyed it enough and would watch more.

    16. The problem is “one of Marvel’s most successful shows” means nothing without seeing the rest of the list. Like are we talking 2nd best? 10th best out of 100? What? And compared to actual successful shows how well did it do?

I don’t have the information to know whether it actually did good or bad here, just marketing spin. But I DO know it got cancelled lol. And I know in the same convo he’s fishing to try and get another season, so ofc he’s gonna present it as good.

    17. If it was so successful why didn’t it get a second season?

I think the reality here disproved this propaganda well after the fact. Revisionist history doesn’t work when the observable evidence disproves the pushed narrative.

I’m almost 60, grew up with Marvel, bought about 10 She-Hulk #1s as a kid, still have ’em. Never thought much of She-Hulk really as a kid. But I watched She-Hulk. It was awesome! So imaginative, funny & entertaining. I mean, she was the original fourth wall breaker, sorry Wade. I should also mention, I’m married to a fiercely strong woman, raised a super independent & intelligent daughter and I support women. Maybe that’s why it didn’t threaten me and I could just enjoy it because it was fucking cool. I’m sad they won’t do more with She-Hulk; I think that’s a huge mistake.

    19. I actually really liked the show…sure the CGI isn’t the best but neither was MoonKnight or Hawkeye…I thought it was funny casual show. Something you only need a casual understanding of the other marvel stuff…

I dug it. Why, was it not renewed? Marvel is so diffuse at this point, it’s hard to tell, and I used to be a “hardcore” fan

    21. blac_sheep90 on

It was well cast, well acted and quite funny. It’d be a shame if She-Hulk is shelved.

Honestly this makes sense, the online hate felt way louder than the actual audience. Maybe Marvel should lean into more weird half-hour genre shows instead of “universe events.”
