If you’re a Redwall fan, the silver lining is that Netflix no longer has the rights so it’s not like they’re just sitting on them with no plans. It’s entirely possible that another studio with an actual plan for the IP could come in and buy the rights

Didn’t they have Patrick McHale running this at one point? Because if they let that slip, they completely dropped the ball.

I loved the books as a kid but I have a hard time seeing it being adapted well in either tonal direction.
Unlike my other contemporary love Animorphs you can’t really go full hardcore, it’s mice and goddam gerbils, and the written content is still mice and gerbils fighting to the death. Changing that neuters the entire appeal, but you also can’t have that in a real kids thing.

I loved the PBS Redwall series because Brian Jacques would have an after-show segment.

Didn’t even know this was being done. When I was a kid I had a teacher who was obsessed with these books and would read them to us. I became an avid reader myself and went on to read several of the books.

I never get what the “quietly” part is meant to imply with these sorts of headlines, and its weird that it has become such a clickbaity word lately. Did anyone expect them to throw a party and make a big announcement that a project is not going forward?
The project had been floundering, and they let the rights lapse. Not much to loudly announce.
