Spacey had little trouble actually acting this part as he was and still is very much into underage boys.

Watching this growing up you could see how weird this all was. Now as an adult it’s clear that its way to common of a thing.

I will forever maintain that Alison Janney should’ve been the shooter at the end of the movie

The pervyness of Kevin spacey really shines in this film.

One thing that marked me in the movie is that his daughter could tell Lester was attracted to Angela and the fact he’s not even a bit ashamed about this after she tells him she knows always angered me.

Everything else aside, that was a really shit cheerleading routine.

Here’s another example of this sort of scene, where a director is evoking a moment when a character is feeling a “spotlighted obsession” for a girl, and the surrounding world falls away…
One of my favorite movies. Hivemind be damned. The late 90s, and early aughts had good stuff. Feels like quality dipped hard later on, but maybe its an age thing.
I do hope this movie makes it to 4k someday.

This movie was like an amazing breath of fresh air when it came out. Had never really seen anything like it.
If Hillary Swank hadn’t won’t Best Actress it would’ve swept the top five – Picture, Director, Actor, Actress, Writing.
Coincidentally years later Annette Benning was up for Best Actress with another “career best” performance…. and lost again to Hillary Swank in Million Dollar Baby.
