This scene really struck me when I first watched the movie, in large part because as widely discussed as it is, I had no idea it existed. *A Clockwork Orange* is as much about punishment as it is about crime, and out of the prison sequences this is one of its most illustrative images on the theme of our ability to assume (or presume) the role of those doing the punishing.
(Of course, being Kubrick, it’s also followed up in context with one of his rare direct jokes.)

There’s a lot of ultra-violence in the Bible.

The actor taking a whipping is quite the good sport.
Great flick.

Recently saw this movie for the first time in decades, and it remains a weirdly enthralling expierence.

This movie always gives me very vivid mushroom flashbacks. Especially the scene where he’s eating spaghetti.
