this actually sounds dope, love when films tackle these themes. definitely putting this on my must-watch list for april
Indigenous folk horror set in the victorian era is honestly such an incredibly raw concept tbh. using actual historical colonialism as the literal monster for a gothic thriller just goes so hard.
The cinematography in this looks absolutely suffocating in the best way possible ngl. completely flipping the “stranger in a strange land” trope so that the indigenous character is the one bringing the horror straight to the english aristocrats’ front door is brilliant writing dude.
19th-century british colonizers stealing ancient people and artifacts, only to be absolutely terrified when the ancient ancestral spirits show up to violently dismantle their entire manor lmao. we literally love to see it.
