As someone who hadn’t really got around to watching Titanic for a long time but loved Cameron’s other work – I was blown away by how emotionally impactful this film was for me. This scene in particular has stayed with me for the past week – as Rose descends in the lifeboat and looks back at the Titanic, and Jack for seemingly the last time, all while the James Horner score flares up. Truly a masterpiece!

That moment when the flare goes off behind Jack’s head while he watches her descend is one of the most hauntingly beautiful shots in cinema. James Horner’s score perfectly captures that ‘gut-punch’ feeling of realizing you’re being saved, but losing the person you love in the process. Still hits just as hard 25+ years later.

I clicked on this thinking I’d scroll after a few seconds. This scene sucked me in and did not let go.
