  1. Lol the part where they admit it translates to lion but “lion is used as a metaphor”

  2. I’m not a lawyer but maybe don’t admit that he told the blatant truth in your suit?

  3. ‘Mocking the chant’s cultural significance’?

Dude: It’s the opening song to a Disney film, not a foundational religious text for your people. Its cultural significance begins and ends with ‘Oh hey, I recognize that song’ followed by someone absolutely mangling it.

I’m going to file suit against both of them for irreparable harm caused by them fighting like my parents. I’m thinking that’s easily worth a contingency fee for a lawyer and a cool $30 mil.

  5. That is so sad. I don’t think I’ve laughed harder in a long time. I’ve watched that clip dozens and dozens of times.

It doesn’t take away anything from the song, and I understand there are subtleties that don’t translate from Zulu into English, but it’s still a hilarious revelation that also expanded my understanding of Zulu culture.

Sometimes you see headlines like this and you’re just blown away by the lawsuit amounts.

  7. I’m going to be honest I know a comedian who is now reasonably successful that was doing this joke on stage about 14 years ago. Not naming him because he’s a good guy but hilarious that this either stolen or simply unoriginal joke is generating any kind of press.

Where on Earth does this $27 mil figure come from? Some greedy lawyer? How could this dipshit even begin to pay anyway?

In something as ridiculous as this, do you need to even legally respond?

If I make a joke about his laughable small-dick energy, will he sue me too?

  11. “Looooook there’s some bullshiiiiiiiiit over thereeeeeeee” has supplanted “whaaaaat’s on the menuuuuuu” as my go-to replacement for that line.

  12. He’s raised 16K out of a 20k goal in one day on GoFundMe to pay for a defense lawyer so he’ll get this shit dismissed easy. Just sucks he even has to fight this nonsense.

I definitely learned about the translation to this song years ago. Wild that it’s an issue now

He used “Lion” as a metaphor… for a movie called The Lion King. Bro admitted he worded it in a way that it can absolutely be taken as “Look! it’s a lion!”

  15. Wtf where did this random ass $27M of damages come from? Hurt feelings?

NGL though I saw that video and believed him 100%

Wait, the joke is an accurate (or mostly accurate) translation of the lyric?!?!?! Hahahahahaha. Streisand effect.
