Rep. Joyce Beatty filed a motion at D.C. District Court on Wednesday asking the judge to issue an order preventing Donald Trump from naming the iconic venue after himself – insisting that Congress intended for there to be no room modification when it named the Kennedy Center after John F. Kennedy.
“Renaming the Kennedy Center for President Trump – without any authorization from Congress – undermines the Center’s raison d’être, and frustrates its purpose as the only memorial to President Kennedy in Washington D.C.” the notion said.
“Congress was particularly sensitive that no other names appear on the Center’s exterior walls, other than the signage designating the institution as a memorial for President Kennedy,” continued the motion.

Back in the 60’s, they changed the name of the center to The John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts. They called it “memorial” because President Kennedy had died. Now it’s The Donald Trump and John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts.
