It’s doubtful he’s the one running the X account / posting on it. Google RedLetterMedia William Shatner if interested, it’s a crazy rabbit hole of who the dude who actually runs it is.

I had to read that headline twice, since Shatner says Shatner things… But this is really nice, he is calling out people who think Star Trek went woke, since it’s always been “woke”…or in other words just inclusive and decent to people

The headline suggests something else, but for clarification:
>In a follow-up post, Shatner mocked critics who celebrated the show’s cancellation because they claimed it was “woke.” He argued that the original “Star Trek,” which famously featured an interracial kiss between Shatner’s character, Captain Kirk, and Nichelle Nichols’ Uhura in a 1968 episode, would be considered “woke” today.
Personally though I think the show was mainly getting criticized for other things and I doubt many MAGA were watching it but I’m not on twitter so who knows.

The same breed of media illiterate turbodorks who’d be Storm Troopers in Star Wars would call Star Trek woke, wouldn’t they?

That’s not him. It’s some guy posting shit in his name and that’s not even news since that’s been known for years.
Edit: What’s there to downvote it’s simply a fact that William Shatner isn’t posting and that some dude has power over the account.
If you were 95 years old you wouldn’t care either if a badly written show was cancelled because that’s what this is actually about. It’s not about it being woke it’s simply a fact that highly inept people are writing current Star Trek. Kurtzman is a fraud and the whole woke this and woke that is being used as a shield for legitimate criticism.

Yes the complaints about woke were silly but I think the core issue is that Star Trek works best when it’s about exploration and missions of the week.

This is not Shatner. It is publicly confirmed that Shatner’s accounts are run by a social media manager and Shatner doesn’t even know what they post. Brent Spiner confirmed it years ago.

I’m old enough that I can remember a time when you could dislike a bad TV show without being accused of a political agenda.

The problem is that they’re milking Star Trek for everything it has. There may be great ideas in here, but they’re throwing too much shit at the wall and oversaturating it with crap and some good stuff in there to the point where viewers don’t know what if anything is even worth checking out at this point. It’s exactly what’s happened to the MCU in recent years. And it pains me to say that as someone who loves the MCU overall and only wants to see it continue to be nothing else but amazing.

being woke isn’t the worst thing in the world, but Star Trek Academy comes pretty close to it
they’re just using the terms gatekeeper, woke to explain it’s abysmal ratings as to justify the cancellation

Notice he never says he was actually watching the show.
