    It’s fine. The acting can be wooden, they didn’t transform Dantes enough to explain how all these people who had critical intersections in their lives with him could completely miss the resemblance. They explained some implied scenes and it eroded some of the mystery around the Count, and that didn’t make the story stronger.

    One of my favourite adaptations of the novel along with Gankutsuo and the French miniseries from the 90s. The Rochard Chamberlain film was also great.

    The recent French film wasn’t that good and anything is better than the 02 Hollywood version.
