For many orchestras, part of their programming each year includes movies-in-concert where every note from the original full film score is played by the orchestra, while the movie is simultaneously projected on screens.
From March 27-29, The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers will be shown accompanied by 238 musicians – the Colorado Symphony, Colorado Symphony Chorus, and soloists.
If you're in Denver or nearby, or visiting then, this might be of interest! They play in Boettcher Concert Hall.

I saw the Philadelphia Orchestra play The Fellowship of the Ring last year. Not ashamed to admit, I cried. Chances are you live near a local orchestra that programs these types of concerts. So worth it

If you’re able to catch a showing like this, I can’t recommend it enough
Sounds phenomenal. I didn’t realize things like this were done *with* the movie playing. I assumed they played the songs like in order of appearance in the movie.
Philly orchestra regularly does movies at The Mann and it’s always amazing
They are doing empire strikes back on 7/24 this year, can’t wait
I saw the Empire Strikes Back like this with the Minnesota Orchestra in Minneapolis. Very cool!
Regret not seeing this in st.louis. so worth it. Saw gladiator live. STL symphony did the extended edition.
My wallet is gonna regret you telling me that
I went to one for How to Train Your Dragon and it was awesome. Doing one for La La Land this weekend which is being conducted by Justin Horowitz. Unbelievably excited. Love live music man.
