The Indian government led by Modi is censoring ‘The Voice of Hind Rajab’ to protect its alliance with Israel. By blocking an Oscar-nominated film about a child’s death. This cowardly censorship proves their foreign policy cannot survive the weight of a single honest story.

This makes me so sad. India has traditionally been a supporter of Palestinian self determination and independence over the course of decades. Many Indians in the country and across the diaspora are pro-Palestine. Modi and his rightwing followers are destroying the real Indian values of democracy, secularism, and religious pluralism in favor of Islamophobia and Hindu nationalism.

Funny thing is, even Israel didn’t censor it — the government there doesn’t bother because most Israelis are beyond being moved by it. Modi apparently gives Indian citizens more credit than Netanyahu gives his own. Can’t have people seeing the film and drawing conclusions.

I am so ashamed of my own country. We had much better leaders in the past who called out US in their own country and publicly stood with Palestinians.

I recently got to know that my colleagues are zionists. I mentioned us-israel bombing Iran and how many innocent school children were killed. They said they support Israel because “those who bless Israel will be blessed”.
I asked what about bombing schools and hospitals? They said terrorists take shelter in such places so us-israel are forced to bomb these places.
I asked what about innocent Palestinians getting displaced? They said Jews have always been in there and they were forced to get out from there and it’s their land. They said Palestine never existed and they have no right to live there. Israel is the promised land of jews and its mentioned in Bible and God provided it to them.
They became angry when I said who is behind 9/11 and al q**da and they didn’t like it. They felt their own family members were accused. These people belong to Indian brethren community. I couldn’t believe how brainwashed these people are.
As an Indian, I am really disappointed in the Indian government for doing this. Hind was murdered in cold blood for no reason. She deserves justice and for her story to be told. This is not our values.

Not surprised. Modi’s government restricted access within India to a BBC documentary critical of his handling of the 2002 Gujarat riots. And there’s a lot of coverup of his wife and what he did to her etc.

Indian government censors everything ugh. They censored “India’s daughter”, they’ve recently started censoring the textbooks that said the system is corrupt. Not very surprised. Recently the movie Santhosh based on caste based violence got censored.
It’s not just israel, they would censor anything and everything that could elicit strong emotions that they don’t want the masses to pay attention to.
