Another example one can add is when the Christmas Adventurers are talking about the race of Lockjaw’s mixed-race child. That scene reminded me of the ultra-creepy bathroom scene with the waiter in The Shining. I’m not gonna quote it.

I love when a movie uses references like that as character clues instead of just movie nerd easter eggs.
If the Kubrick nods are shaping how we read Sean Penn’s character, that is actually interesting.
Now I want to rewatch with that in mind and see what feels intentional versus just style.

Yeah the car chase at the end is very much in the vain of the garden maze chase at the end of the shining, child tricking parent. Also DiCaprio wearing that dressing gown is a bit Jack Torrance as well

It was a great scene but ruined the concept when one of creeps in that room shows up at the end doing the job himself.
Doesn’t sound like a powerful organization.

The music alone takes cues from Clockwork Orange

It’s a reach, but the photo for this post reminded me of the moon site in 2001. The floodlights and port-o-johns kind of have the same composition.

Phonetically… Christmas Adventures = Christ mis-adventures and All hail St-Nic = all hail Satan
