Death of a Salesman revival star Nathan Lane is definitely not buying what Matthew McConaughey and Timothée Chalamet are selling.

Lane savagely slammed both actors during a Thursday morning appearance on The View, where moderator Whoopi Goldberg asked the Hollywood veteran to weigh in on the ongoing controversy that saw Chalamet — amid a town hall discussion with McConaughey — dismiss the popularity of art forms like opera and ballet.

Lane posed that "the bigger question is, why was there a town hall meeting with Matthew McConaughey and Timothée Chalamet? Who deemed this meeting of the minds necessary?"

"It was kind of kaleidoscopic in its stupidity and insensitivity, and yet strangely telling about where we are in this country."

He then jabbed Donald Trump upon asking why there isn't "a town hall meeting with Democrats discussing how to get this lunatic out of the White House?"

Lane issued a final criticism of both stars when he joked that "some weed was smoked beforehand" at their joint town hall.

  1. I almost imagine Mr. Lane dropping that final pearl and saying, I’m out of here, George Costanza style.

  2. guy is just afraid he won’t just lose the oscar but by the time he wins no one will care.

    This is funny, but..

👀 It is an Oscar nominee campaigning with the help of a previous Oscar winner that he professionally and personally knows. So it is quite normal..

    But again.. Still funny!

  6. You know what… he’s right because why were the two even talking in the first place?

He’s not wrong. One of them talks in word salad and is a grifter. The one dates a grifter.

  8. Most of this is pretty stupid but worst of all is the author choosing to use the words “savagely slammed”.

  9. I mean isn’t the easily answered? Timothee’s break-out role as a child was in Interstellar with Matthew. Now he’s having his break-out performance, and Oscar bid, so they reunited, like countless others have done? And It was filmed at University of Texas because Matthew is a giant part of the program?

  10. I assumed it was one of those actor on actor interviews Vogue does? Was this something else?
