Auston Matthews, captain of the Toronto Maple Leafs and gold medal winner for the U.S. men’s Olympic hockey team, got boo’d from fans when he was introduced at the Leafs’ first home game since the conclusion of the Milano-Cortina Games.

My only interaction with ice hockey is Heated Rivalry so I’m just refusing to believe any of these actual NHL players are real people

  2. Should have included Ottawa sens captain Brady Tkachuk since he was also playing that night!

no cuz it’s really fascinating to me how the men’s hockey team ended up being the biggest losers in the olympics lmaooo

It should be noted that since the Olympics has ended, the Leafs are on a 5-game losing streak and has a long shot of making it to the playoffs this year.

It’s too bad they booed him…without me

Probably important context that the Leafs are trash garbage and they are also upset with him for Leaf related reasons

Not saying all the Olympic stuff isn’t part of it but Leafs are Leafing currently as well. This game against the Sens was especially brutal

  7. GOOD. He deserves to be booed after all that bullshit and disrespect. It felt like they weren’t even celebrating winning the gold, they were celebrating beating Canada. Didn’t know it was possible to be a sore winner. It’s a bigger deal with Matthew’s because he’s the captain of a Canadian team … then goes to celebrate with the president who is trying to turn us into the 51st state. Should have thought that through a bit more buddy.

    Signed,

    A disappointed Canadian

I hope someone put his card in each one of men’s urinals. If there wasn’t, now you have a goal!

  9. Drama context is that Toronto is a famously tough market filled with passionate fans, Matthews is their top-paid star who is already underperforming this year, and the team is set to miss the playoffs for the first time in 10 years. Fans were already mad at him before this. He knew all that and he chose to miss practice, mind you, to go to the White House.

To see a man threatening the sovereignty of Canada.

The country in which he plays.
