I unapologetically love this film, to me it’s popcorn perfection…

Not paying taxes again is such a small ask too, but sounds hilarious in this context.

“none of them want to pay taxes again… Ever”
Yea thats like a tiny little thing… If I’m in space saving the entire planet and everyone on it, my debt to humanity and society, literally all nations of earth has been paid, with generational interest – you’d best be making sure I never pay taxes again.

God, Willis was such a charmer in his prime. Bay was, too. It’s just people talking, yet it feels cinematic thanks to great framing and cuts.

I love the story about Ben Affleck asking Michael Bay why it would make more sense to train oil drillers as astronauts rather than astronauts how to drill. Bay’s response: “shut the fuck up.”

I wonder if the two astronauts got the same deal with taxes. I know, government employees, too bad so sad, but really it was same risk, same reward? I hope they did.

I can remember the first time I saw this movie in 1998, I watched it with a buddy of mines. I actually turned away an shed a tear at the end when Bruce Willis hit the button an they showed flashbacks his life. Cool movie

Very similar to the scene at the end of Sneakers, where – among other hilarious requests – River Phoenix says he wants the phone number of the female officer in the room.

When I was a kid, I always thought that when he said Kennedy, I thought he said Kenny like from South Park, since South Park was all the craze at the time.

Killer toupée on Bruce. We need a visual timeline of all the shit he tried to pass off as hair.

Something I just realized last year while thinking of this movie is that the criticism about why they didn’t train astronauts to become drillers is addressed in the movie in the ending. In the end it took Willis’s experience and drilling expertise to pivot how to mission was going to go down. The astronauts would not be able to do this and would’ve doomed the planet.
