The country’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was wiped out in the initial strike, prompting the Pentagon chief to declare, “This is not a so-called regime-change war.”
“But the regime sure did change,” Hegseth couldn’t help adding with a smirk, providing fodder for an attack from the host on Tuesday’s Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
