“how do you pull off a major studio release schedule of 30 titles considering the most that have unspooled recently by a major studio was Universal’s 20 titles last year (a total that included Focus Features)…How do you explain to one that their Paramount tentpole is following in the wake of a Warner Bros one, or vice versa? Will Warner Bros and Paramount be allowed to compete against each other? Typically, individual labels at a major studio won’t compete with each other.”

How many years does it take to get out of their crippling debt? In terms of Sonic the Hedgehogs and DC films.

It won’t. It’s impossible and has never been done in the industry’s history.

It’s insane how blatant a lie can be and yet, here we are, asking questions as if this is going to happen.

I think the funnier part is that I truly believe that Ellison thinks they can do it, but there’s no way in hell it will be possible

  4. To put it into perspective, the entire worldwide gross from the MCU since 2008, being the most successful movie franchise of all time, wouldn’t be able to cover even HALF of the debt Paramount is getting to acquire WB.

There’s no way this isn’t going to be a huge disaster for everyone involved.

  5. lol, they’re going to lose shit-tons of money. Their lenders are going to demand they start selling pieces off.

They won’t they don’t care they don’t intend to and there will be no consequences for blatantly lying.

  7. They won’t.

This year Paramount released (I think) 9 films in theaters, and a lot of them weren’t even there for the 45 day window they’re promise.

(Tbf it was a merger year so maybe that’s why. But I just don’t trust they can do 15 per studio)

  8. Saudi Arabia is about to be the new China. Look forward to movie plots having to go to Saudi Arabia where rich and powerful oil sheikhs get to be the heroes for that sweet Saudi payday.

  9. Deadline, he’s fucking lying to you.

Can someone get this asshole under oath in Congress already?

  10. So how much cash do they have left after buying Warner Bros? Also, that Saudi firm they borrowed from is going to demand they pay back in full with interest fee and return with ever increasing cash profit in the next 5 years or else.

  11. There’s not much to wonder. They’re going to tell whatever lies they need to say for approval. Then reneg and face no consequences.

  12. Deal still might not even go through. This MAY be an if I can’t have it, nobody can situation.
