I enjoy a film with a good rescue scene.

A simple example is the Batman V. Superman scene where Batman goes to rescue Superman's mom. One of the best scenes in a comic book movie period.

I was curious what everyone else's opinion was. What movie has the best rescue scene in your opinion?

It’s arguably more the entire movie than a single rescue scene but Thirteen Lives was well done. It helps the plot was based on actual events.

Last of the Mohicans (1992) where the heroic rescue halfway tragedically turns into a revenge rampage.

  3. I know it’s less of a ‘rescue scene’ than a ‘rescue film’, but the climax of *The Martian* gets me every time.

  4. You can argue whether it’s a rescue or just backup, but a favorite of mine is from “Avengers: Infinity War,” when Captain America, Falcon and Black Widow save Wanda and Vision from Proxima Midnight and Corvus Glaive.

The entire “rescuing Sarah Connor from the mental hospital” sequence in T2.

Does the cavalry charge in The Two Towers count as a rescue? Because that one if so

  7. The opening scene from Tropic Thunder, when they rescue Fourleaf, who’s already been shot at least 40 times.

  8. Not a movie, but the rescue of the people of New Caprica on Battlestar Galactica (S3, E4 – Exodus, Pt 2) is still amazing. The Galactica plummeting toward the surface, with Vipers launching through the flames of atmospheric entry, while the resistance is fighting back on the ground, then Galactica jumping away right above the planet surface – even with dated FX, it’s thrilling and incredibly cool.

  9. The opening scene of Speed, the elevator rescue.

The whole movie probably counts tbh.
