  1. > “The Kennedy Center Honors” have been presented under that longstanding, historic name for the final time. (Or at least for the last time for the next three years.) To the surprise of probably few people, the awards program will henceforth be known as “The Trump Kennedy Center Honors,” in keeping with the effort of the board installed by President Donald J. Trump to rebrand everything related to the institution with his name.

    > The show will also take place at an alternative, smaller venue for at least the next couple of years, and not at the historic hall in Washington, D.C. that was had its own name change to give the president top billing, under authority that is still disputed by many experts.

    > The program “will definitely go forward,” said Richard Grenell, the president of the center, in an interview with D.C. news radio station WTOP. “It will probably just be in a smaller venue, which just means ticket demand will be even higher.”

    > The new location for “The Trump Kennedy Center Honors” “is yet to be determined,” but “we’re already looking for different places,” Grenell told the news station.

Kind of defeats the purpose of the name if you’re not holding the event at the Center.

    Demanded by who?

And what a stupid metric for success. Its not dune 3.

  4. “Ticket demand will be even higher” is an interesting spin on “we’ll definitely have fewer people attending than before but we’ll also technically have fewer empty seats.”

  5. Later this year the USA will be renamed The United States of Trump, the Earth will be renamed Trumpus, and the Milky Way will be renamed the Trumpy Way

“If the venue is smaller, we’ll sell more tickets” is the same logic as “If we stop testing we’ll see fewer cases”

  7. I’m ashamed to say all news about the Kennedy Center still continues to gut me

    I’m still floored

It means so much to me and so many of my peers. To see the legacy slowly be dismantled like this in real time is unbelievable

  8. Uhh, if there’s such a high demand for tickets now, why move it to a smaller venue? Why is Trump closing it for 2 years??

Following that logic, he should move the venue to a bathroom with one seat where demand will be off the charts!
