Lebanese filmmaker Marie-Rose Osta won the Golden Bear award for her short film “Someday, a child” at the Berlin International Film Festival on Saturday. Osta used her victory speech to denounce Israel’s attacks on Gaza and southern Lebanon.

    Perfect. But how dare she talk politics at *checks notes* a film festival with an avowed commitment to political statement. 

    It’s increasingly clear it’s only a certain type of politics they want people to talk about at the Berlinale. 

  2. Yeah, that made me tear up, because there’s not one false word there. I’m glad she won, and I hope she stays safe because I can’t help but think of other filmmakers who have been threatened and even killed.

    We must never give up on pushing for what’s right however ways we can.
