This movie is honestly a masterpiece that everyone should watch at least once in their life. I love it so much that I end up watching it again every year.
The movie is blend of action, romance, and drama. The romance, without any obscenity, is outstanding. By the end of the movie, it can easily make you emotional and even bring tears to your eyes. The cinematography is also amazing and makes many scenes feel special.
It’s also a great watch for action fans. I personally like action movies, and this one truly impressed me. I even shared a 5 min. female driven action scene, and it genuinely surprised me with how good it was. The choreography and the way weapons are used make the action scenes very engaging. The movie has many action sequences that are really enjoyable.
Every character has a meaningful story and that’s what turns this movie into such a memorable experience.

Just an incredibly beautiful movie, Ang Lee is a genius
I think a lot of the “fighting” doesn’t really hold up as an actual martial arts film
I completely agree I loved it the first time I saw it too. It really stayed with me. The way it blends action, romance, and emotion is just something special. You don’t expect it to hit that deeply, but by the end, it really does.
The cinematography and storytelling make every scene feel meaningful, and the action sequences are so well done they actually pull you in instead of just being noise. It’s definitely one of those movies you can rewatch and still feel the same emotions every time. 🔥 🫶🏻
I’m waiting to see if they do it as a monthly re release in theaters this year
Meh, I never was a fan of that floaty effect
Everyone should watch Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon at least once in their lifetime, except for that one girl on TikTok that said she wouldn’t watch a movie made before the year 2010.
Such a great fight scene. Great action. Great stakes. Comedy. Perfection. Love Chow Yun Fat. But I always wonder what Jet Li would’ve done with the role.
I have watched this movie at least two dozen times. I was 8 when it came out and I’ve loved it ever since
What is your take on the ending? I’ve heard lots of different interpretations.
To me, *Drunken Master 2* (Legend of the Drunken Master) has the best kung fu of any “Kung Fu Movie,” but also for me, *Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon* is easily the best “Kung Fu Movie” ever made.
I’ve always wanted to read the book series but there’s no English translation available. By all account, the book series is massive. Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon is like 500k words in Chinese characters and it’s not even the longest book in the series. A French publication tried translating the series many years ago and even they gave up after a few books. So unfortunate. The book titles go so hard. My favorite is Sword Force Pearl Shine (how did the author even come up with this kick-ass title lol). A pity no one wants to translate these books.
I was fully unprepared when I sat down to watch this. I had no idea what was coming. Like if you combined the best action movie with the best dance movie with the best period piece. The scene at the restaurant brought the house down. Just complete joy from the packed theater.
Quite possibly my favorite movie.
It’s such an incredibly weird movie, I love it so much. Michelle Yeoh made me weep, the ending really destroyed me.
I agree. I put Hero in the same category. Such beautiful masterpieces.
Honest question: why was she able to fly like that?
I love that this scene shows the younger lady definitely being bested in combat, but the super weapon allows her to break out of the loss… the more experienced lady becomes increasingly frustrated at being beaten by the sword of her dead husband… and the young lady completely fails to learn the lesson of this bout.
I got to see this is a theatre. It’s a bit odd with the flying and stuff but it’s great.
